4-star prospect L.J. Johnson commits to Texas A&M
Texas A&M added depth to its running game on National Signing Day when tailback L.J. Johnson announced his commitment to the Aggies.
The product of Cy-Fair High School is the ESPN 300's 86th overall prospect and fifth-rated rusher for 2021.
Johnson chose Texas A&M over Texas, Oklahoma, and LSU, among others, and he's a promising offensive piece for the Aggies' 2021 group. He joins a running back group led by Isaiah Spiller, who rushed for 1,036 yards and nine touchdowns with a 5.5 yards-per-carry average last season.
Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher has made the defensive line a priority this offseason, with five defensive linemen among the team's 11 top-300 commits. Johnson joins fellow blue-chippers Shemar Turner, Tunmise Adeleye, and receiver Shadrach Banks as the program's most notable signees.
The Aggies finished fourth in the AP Top 25 rankings after going 9-1 in 2020. They capped the year with a 41-27 rout of North Carolina in the Orange Bowl.
