Terrell Owens: Brady snubbed me during comeback attempt with Bucs

Hall of Fame wide receiver Terrell Owens says Tom Brady foiled his attempt at an NFL comeback at the age of 48.

During an appearance on "The Bubba Dub Show," Owens said he tried to reach out to Brady amid the quarterback's final season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2022 in hopes of signing with the team. The Bucs were dealing with a depleted receiver unit at the time after Antonio Brown quit the team midgame.

"It was at the end of the season. I didn't need to play a full season, they just needed somebody to fill some holes with AB leaving at the receiver position," Owens said. "I think my guy Chris Godwin was hurt or something where he was still struggling with the hamstring or something like that. So again, I reached out to (Brady) through Randy (Moss) and a couple of other people, just to come in and just play third-down and red-zone situations.

"You know, this dude really ignored me. ... It just shows you the lack of respect, but when they get in front of you, they wanna act like they respect you. Understand that I'm a Hall of Famer now; you've seen what I've done on the football field. But it shows you a little bit of how arrogance comes into play."

Owens said he also reached out to people within the Bucs organization who he said were "putting their feelers out" at the time. Had they decided to bring him on board, Owens believes he could've helped Brady win another Super Bowl title.

"Me understanding the game, understanding how to play with a future Hall of Famer in Tom Brady, and trying to add to what they already had - bro, they had just won the Super Bowl. Honestly, he could've had his eighth Super Bowl," Owens said.

Owens last played in an NFL game during the 2010 season as a member of the Cincinnati Bengals. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018.
