Report: Pats, Peppers finalizing 3-year extension worth up to $30M
The New England Patriots and defensive back Jabrill Peppers are finalizing a three-year extension worth up to $30 million, a source told Field Yates of ESPN.
The deal has a base value of $24 million, Yates adds.
Peppers has been with the Patriots since he signed a one-year deal with the club in 2021. After appearing in all 17 contests, he re-upped with them on a two-year contract.
The 28-year-old excelled last campaign, starting 15 contests with two interceptions and eight passes defended. He was tremendous in coverage, allowing a career-best 72.7 passer rating when targeted while giving up only 7.5 yards per reception, according to Pro Football Reference.
Peppers was a big part of New England's success on the defensive side of the ball last season. The club finished eighth in EPA/play allowed and excelled later in the year, ranking first from Week 10 on.
The Patriots have been proactive this offseason in re-signing their own players. Christian Barmore, Rhamondre Stevenson, Kyle Dugger, Mike Onwenu, Hunter Henry, and Kendrick Bourne all received multi-year extensions.
The Michigan product was selected in the first round of the 2017 draft. He has six interceptions and 33 passes defended in 93 career contests.
