<p>FCS powerhouse North Dakota State will join the Mountain West conference in football only for the 2026 season, sources told <a href="https://x.com/PeteThamel/status/2020601477312717212?s=20">ESPN's Pete Thamel</a>.</p><p>The school will pay nearly $12 million to join the league and an additional $5 million to the NCAA to make the jump from FCS, Thamel adds. The Mountain West conference will now have 10 football schools with Northern Illinois also joining for next season.</p><p>North Dakota State is one of the most dominant programs in the history of the FCS. The Bison have claimed 10 of the last 15 national championships and were the No. 1 seed in the playoffs this year before being upset by Illinois State in the opening round.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>The Bison have won at least 11 games in every season since 2011 outside of the Covid-shortened 2020 campaign when the program posted a 7-3 record.</p><p>It's a key addition for the Mountain West as the conference is losing Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State, and Utah State to the new-look Pac-12. The conference announced a media rights deal this week with Fox Sports and CBS Sports.</p><p> </p><p> </p>

He's guaranteed $36.5 million next campaign, and another $19.5 million of his 2027 base salary becomes guaranteed if Murray is still on the Cardinals' roster come March 15.</p><p>Arizona would take on a $54.7-million dead cap hit if it released him before June 1, and cutting Murray after that date would spread the dead money over two seasons. Trading the quarterback would yield the Cardinals $34.7 million in cap savings.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Murray started five games in 2025 due to a foot injury. He was placed on injured reserve in early November and was ruled out for the remainder of the season a month later. He went 2-3 in those five starts, throwing for 962 yards with six touchdowns and three interceptions.</p><p>The former first overall pick has only suited up in 41 games since 2022. He's battled multiple injuries during that stretch, including a torn ACL he suffered in December of 2022.</p><p>Arizona recently hired former Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur as head coach following the firing of Jonathan Gannon. LaFleur told reporters he's spoken with Murray since accepting the job, but wouldn't discuss the signal-caller's future with the franchise.</p><p>"I have a lot of respect for him (Murray) as a player," LaFleur said, according to <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/47820560/cards-lafleur-says-call-plays-qb-decision-looms">ESPN's Josh Weinfuss</a>. "Having the five years having to go against him, a lot of respect for him as a player and he was never a fun challenge to go against."</p><p>Murray is 38-48-1 in 87 games as a starter since entering the league. The 28-year-old has only led the Cardinals to one postseason appearance during his seven-year career.</p>

The odds imply there's roughly a 22% chance the Seahawks win and Darnold doesn't earn the honor, and that feels too high.</p><p>Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who is next on the oddsboard for the Seahawks, is unlikely to have an explosive game against Christian Gonzalez, one of the best shutdown corners in the league. Smith-Njigba has the skills to beat Gonzalez - I just don't see the Seattle wideout producing an MVP-worthy performance.</p><p>Kenneth Walker III is a real threat, though. Without Zach Charbonnet, Walker should get the majority of the goal-line work and could break off a couple of long runs to rack up yards. For starters, he's Seattle's kickoff and punt returner, allowing him to make big plays throughout the contest. Shaheed has been one of the best returners in the league since joining the Seahawks on Nov. 4, ranking second in yards per kickoff return (33.2) and third in yards per punt return (16.2) during that stretch. His three return touchdowns are the most in the NFL since early November, and he ran one back against the 49ers in the divisional round.</p><p>Shaheed is also Seattle's No. 3 wide receiver and has run the fourth-most routes on the team since being acquired. He's played 50% of the offensive snaps in the postseason, and he hauled in a 51-yard reception in the conference title game. Shaheed's 11.3 air yards per target ranks first on the Seahawks, and he'll likely see a couple of downfield shots Sunday. He's also utilized as a runner on jet sweeps, totaling eight carries over his last 11 games.</p><p>Look, it's +4000, and this is a big swing, but if there's any long shot in this game worth taking, it's Shaheed. <p>New Tennessee Titans head coach Robert Saleh said Thursday that he'll handle defensive play-calling duties after feeling like the "timeout, red card" guy during his tenure with the New York Jets.</p><p>"Calling plays, for me, is not necessarily about control, but it's about connecting with the players," Saleh said at his introductory press conference, according to <a href="https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/robert-saleh-will-call-the-titans-defensive-plays">Pro Football Talk's Josh Alper</a>. </p><p>"When you are a play caller, and you are calling plays, you feel the strain you're putting on them with each call. I can feel the weight of the play call on individual players in those moments."</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Jeff Ulbrich served as the defensive play-caller during Saleh's three-year run as the Jets' head coach from 2021-24. Over that stretch, the pair elevated the defense to rank fourth in yards per play and sixth in success rate, according to <a href="https://rbsdm.com/">Ben Baldwin's database</a>.</p><p>Saleh spent the 2025 season as the San Francisco 49ers' defensive coordinator, helping the team reach the divisional round of the playoffs despite key injuries to <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/111907" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/111907">Nick Bosa</a> and <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/89985" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/89985">Fred Warner</a>.</p><p>The Titans hired former New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll as their offensive coordinator this week. Saleh called Daboll the "perfect" person to maximize Ward's ceiling in the NFL, according to <a href="https://x.com/TDavenport_NFL/status/2016967046139941153?s=20">ESPN's Turron Davenport</a>.</p><p>"(Daboll) has had a history of developing young quarterbacks in this league," Saleh <a href="https://x.com/TDavenport_NFL/status/2016968388854079665?s=20">said</a>. "There's a lot of benefits to what he does. As a defensive guy game planning against Dabs, he's always going to screen you both run and pass."</p><p>Saleh added: "He's going to find the run-pass complex within your scheme for individual players, and he's going to attack the shit out of it. ... <p>The Philadelphia Eagles hired Green Bay Packers quarterbacks coach Sean Mannion as their offensive coordinator, the team announced Thursday.</p><p>Mannion spent the last two seasons with the Packers. Before becoming a coach, he played quarterback in the NFL from 2015-23. Drafted in the third round in 2015 by the then-St. Louis Rams, Mannion finished his career with 573 passing yards in 14 games.</p><p>The 33-year-old will be the Eagles' offensive play-caller for the 2026 season, sources told <a href="https://x.com/DMRussini/status/2017018088588206338?s=20">The Athletic's Dianna Russini</a>. He didn't call plays during his tenure on Matt LaFleur's staff.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>"It was quickly apparent in meeting with Sean that he is a bright young coach with a tremendous future ahead of him in this league. I was impressed by his systematic views on offensive football and his strategic approach," Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said in a <a href="https://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/news/eagles-sean-mannion-offensive-coordinator-hire">statement</a>.</p><p>"Sean's 11 years in the NFL have provided him a great opportunity to learn from and grow alongside some of the best coaches in the game. As a result, he has a wealth of knowledge and experience that will be invaluable to our team moving forward."</p><p>Philadelphia's offensive coordinator job has been vacant since the team fired Kevin Patullo following their wild-card round loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The Eagles went through a lengthy interview process that reportedly included Brian Daboll, Jim Bob Cooter, and Josh Grizzard.</p><p>Mannion served as an offensive assistant during his first season in Green Bay before becoming the quarterbacks coach in 2025. He helped signal-caller Jordan Love finish second in EPA/play out of 30 qualifying passers this campaign, according to <a href="https://rbsdm.com/stats/stats/">Ben Baldwin's database</a>.</p><p>The Packers have emerged as one of the league's best offenses since Mannion joined the staff, ranking fourth in EPA/play and seventh in offensive touchdowns.</p><p>Mannion, who was Oregon State's quarterback for four years before entering the league, played under Sean McVay, Kevin Stefanski, and Kevin O'Connell during his NFL playing career.</p><p>After winning Super Bowl LIX, the Eagles' offense took a significant step back in 2025, placing 22nd in success rate and 23rd in total yards gained. Sirianni moved on from Patullo after just one season as offensive coordinator.</p><p> </p>
