Tua 'excited to kill narratives' as Dolphins visit Packers in cold weather
Tua Tagovailoa hasn't had a lot of success in cold-weather games in his NFL career, but the Miami Dolphins quarterback said he's ready to change that trend with a road matchup against the Green Bay Packers coming up.
"I'm excited to kill narratives, so let's go. Bring it on," Tagovailoa said Sunday after a 34-15 win over the New England Patriots.
Tagovailoa has posted an 0-7 record in games played at 4 degrees Celsius (40 degrees Fahrenheit) or less since entering the NFL, according to Pro Football Talk's Josh Alper. Forecasts are calling for 0.5 degrees Celsius at Lambeau Field when Green Bay hosts Miami on Thursday evening.
The matchup against the Packers will be another big test for a Dolphins team that's gaining momentum ahead of the season's final stretch. Miami is still 5-6 this season, but the team has won three games in a row.
Tagovailoa and Co. most recently dominated the Patriots, opening with a 31-0 lead before giving up 15 fourth-quarter points. Tagovailoa finished the matchup with four touchdown passes and no interceptions. He's now passed for 11 TDs against just one INT since returning from injured reserve.
"It's always great to enjoy the win," Tagovailoa said of his team's latest triumph. "But there were some things second half-wise that we knew we could have capitalized on that we didn't, things we said we wanted to do coming out in the second half that we didn't, and those can be frustrating.
"But I would say we're still below the .500 threshold, and it's a long way to where we want to get to. We'll enjoy this win, but this next one is going to be big for us, and we're excited to go down to Green Bay and show everybody on prime time what we can do."
The 8-3 Packers are also hot, as they've won six of their last seven games. Green Bay most recently blew out the San Francisco 49ers 38-10 on Sunday.
