Ravens' Harbaugh unable to clarify Diontae Johnson's status with team

Wide receiver Diontae Johnson didn't log a single snap Sunday in the Baltimore Ravens' 24-19 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. One day later, head coach John Harbaugh said an update on Johnson's status with the team would have to wait.

"At this time, I'm going to have to wait just to clarify it," Harbaugh said, according to ESPN's Jamison Hensley. "There's some moving parts there that we're going to have to figure out and explore and just see where we're at. I know that's not the answer you want, but that's the best I can do in fairness to everybody right now."

Harbaugh also sidestepped whether Johnson would remain with the team, telling reporters, "We'll just work it out (and) see where we're at over the next few days this week."

The Ravens acquired the wide receiver near the trade deadline in hopes of bolstering their receiving corps, but he's hardly contributed. Johnson has been targeted only five times and turned that into just one catch for 6 yards. He's played a total of 39 offensive snaps for Baltimore.

It appeared as if Baltimore would need to reach into its receiving depth after Rashod Bateman left Sunday's loss with a knee injury, but Harbaugh clarified Monday that it's not expected to be a long-term issue.

The Ravens are Johnson's third team since the start of the 2023 season. He was traded from the Pittsburgh Steelers to Carolina Panthers in the offseason but was shipped off from Carolina after the franchise started 1-7 this year.

A former Pro Bowl receiver with the Steelers, Johnson has one game with 100-plus receiving yards this campaign and three games of 70-plus yards. He's been held to 23 yards or less in all other games he's appeared in this year.

Johnson's best season came in 2021 in Pittsburgh when he registered 107 catches, 1,161 yards, and eight touchdowns.
