The New York Jets requested an interview with Kansas City Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo for their head coaching job, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

Spagnuolo is a four-time Super Bowl champion as an assistant with the Chiefs and New York Giants. The 65-year-old's only stint as a full-time NFL head coach came with the then-St. Louis Rams from 2009-11, compiling a 10-38 record during his tenure. Spagnuolo also filled in as the Giants' interim head coach for four games in 2017.

The Chiefs finished ninth in total defense under Spagnuolo this season, allowing 320.6 yards per game. He joined Kansas City in 2019.

The Jets have also reportedly requested interviews with several other candidates, including Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores, and Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady.

New York has already completed interviews with former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel, former Jets coach Rex Ryan, and former Washington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera.

The franchise fired Robert Saleh as head coach in early October after three-plus seasons in charge. The Jets went 20-36 and never made the playoffs under Salah since hiring him in 2021.

New York is also looking to hire a new general manager after firing Joe Douglas in November.
