Dak expects to be healthy for Cowboys' opener
Quarterback Dak Prescott plans to be in the starting lineup when the Dallas Cowboys kick off their 2025 season.
"I'm not gonna put a timeline on it, but I'll be ready for the first game and when anything matters and very, very ready," Prescott said. "I'm feeling good. I'm doing more and more. The last two weeks have been huge and progressive for me."
Prescott started the first eight games in 2024 before tearing his hamstring against the Atlanta Falcons in November, which required season-ending surgery. He passed for 1,978 yards, 11 touchdowns, and eight interceptions with a 64.7% completion rate.
Cooper Rush took over the starting role with Prescott sidelined. Injuries to key starters resulted in the Cowboys finishing with a 7-10 record and missing the playoffs for the first time since 2020.
Prescott is only two years removed from leading the league with 36 touchdown passes while throwing for 4,516 yards and posting a career-best 105.9 quarterback rating in 2023.
It's unclear if Prescott will participate in offseason workouts leading up to training camp. The three-time Pro Bowler is optimistic about his progress as he continues to rehab.
"I wouldn't say I'm running full speed yet," Prescott said. "But everything's on the right track, and I'm excited."
Prescott will be among the key holdovers on the Cowboys' roster as Brian Schottenheimer embarks on his first season as head coach.
