Commanders' Payne suspended 1 game for punching Lions' St. Brown

The NFL has suspended Washington Commanders defensive lineman Daron Payne one game without pay for punching Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown on Sunday, the league announced Monday.
Payne was ejected in the second quarter of Washington's 44-22 loss.

The veteran is slated to miss the Commanders' matchup against the Miami Dolphins in Madrid next week due to the suspension. Payne is free to appeal.
The Commanders are in the midst of a disappointing 3-7 campaign while Payne has recorded one sack in 10 games.
