Dolphins hire Packers exec Sullivan as GM
The Miami Dolphins hired Green Bay Packers vice president of player personnel Jon-Eric Sullivan as their new general manager, the team announced Friday.
Sullivan originally joined the Packers as a training camp intern in 2003 and has been with the franchise since, serving in several different roles. He took over as vice president of player personnel in 2022. His father, Jerry, was the Dolphins' wide receivers coach in 2004.
A highly regarded executive within the NFL, Sullivan had his second in-person interview with the Dolphins on Thursday before getting the job Friday, notes NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
Hall of Fame quarterback and ESPN broadcaster Troy Aikman was "incredibly involved" in the Dolphins' hiring of Sullivan, according to ESPN's Jeff Darlington. Miami hired Aikman on Jan. 1 as a consultant for its GM search.
Sullivan will have a lot of work to do, as Miami enters the 2026 offseason with major questions. The team is looking for a new head coach after firing Mike McDaniel following a 7-10 season. The Dolphins, who have salary-cap issues, also have yet to decide on quarterback Tua Tagovailoa's future.
Tagovailoa signed a massive four-year extension in 2024 but recently said he'd welcome a fresh start elsewhere after being benched in the final stretch of the 2025 season. Moving on from him would result in a $99.2-million dead cap hit for Miami.
