The Minnesota Vikings and Aaron Jones agreed to a revised contract that will keep the running back with the team for the 2026 season, sources told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Jones' base salary has been reduced from $9 million to $5.5 million in the reworked deal, Pelissero added. Minnesota reportedly originally planned to release the veteran at the start of the new league year Wednesday.

The 31-year-old has spent two seasons with the Vikings. He re-signed on a two-year extension worth up to $20 million last March.

Jones has suited up in 29 games for Minnesota, totaling 2,293 scrimmage yards with 10 touchdowns on 466 touches. However, he only played in 12 contests last year after spending time on injured reserve with a hamstring injury.

Jordan Mason is under contract for 2026 after leading the team in rushing last season. Ty Chandler, who's totaled 181 carries with the Vikings since being selected in the fifth round of the 2022 draft, is an unrestricted free agent.
