Ducks' 3rd overall pick Sennecke out 6-8 weeks with foot fracture
Anaheim Ducks prospect Beckett Sennecke is out six-to-eight weeks after sustaining a foot fracture during offseason training, the team announced Thursday.
Sennecke was a surprise pick at third overall in this summer's draft. The winger surged up the board late in the season thanks to an impressive playoff run with the OHL's Oshawa Generals.
The injury likely makes Sennecke unavailable for Anaheim's entire training camp and preseason. The Ducks' regular season begins in just over five weeks on Oct. 12.
Sennecke played for Canada at the World Junior Summer Showcase in early August. He was named to Anaheim's rookie camp roster Tuesday.
The 18-year-old tallied 27 goals and 68 points in 63 games last season with Oshawa. He added 10 goals and 22 points in 16 playoff contests as the Generals lost in the OHL finals.
The Ducks signed Sennecke to a three-year entry-level contract July 5.
Anaheim also announced goalie prospect Tomas Suchanek will miss six-to-eight months with a ruptured ACL. A standout with Czechia at the 2023 world juniors, Suchanek signed with the Ducks in April. He posted a .910 save percentage in 29 AHL games last season.
