The Toronto Maple Leafs announced defenseman Jani Hakanpaa is unable to suit up for Finland at the upcoming 4 Nations Face-Off because of injury.
Hakanpaa is on long-term injured reserve with no timeline to return because of a lower-body ailment.
The 32-year-old has appeared in only two games this season after signing a one-year contract with the Maple Leafs as a free agent.
Finland's top defenseman, Dallas Stars stalwart Miro Heiskanen, was recently ruled out of the tournament with a lower-body injury.
No replacements have yet been named for either player.
Finland's tournament begins Feb. 13 against the United States.
