Florida projects to have around $19 million in cap space this summer, but key teammates <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/3946" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/3946">Aaron Ekblad</a> and <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/100" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/100">Brad Marchand</a> will also be looking for new deals before joining Bennett in unrestricted free agency.The Panthers acquired Bennett from the Calgary Flames during the 2020-21 campaign, and he revitalized his career after the trade. Bennett has hit 20 goals in three out of four seasons in Florida and leads the playoffs with 10 tallies. The 2014 fourth overall pick also stood out for Canada at this year's 4 Nations Face-Off."I definitely struggled in Calgary for a while," Bennett said. "Once I got here, just how the team embraced me - the opportunity the team gave me right from the beginning - was totally different than what I was getting in Calgary. I took that opportunity and found some success early, and our team definitely changed quite a bit."Panthers general manager Bill Zito said he's content waiting until the Stanley Cup Final is over against the Edmonton Oilers to address Bennett's contract."We'll talk about the playoffs now and worry about that stuff later," Zito said, "Over time, things get sorted out."The Panthers were in a similar situation with <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/3945" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/3945">Sam Reinhart</a> last summer. "Bringing Derek back for another season is an important move for our group," said general manager Patrik Allvin. "His strong defensive play and solid work on the penalty kill really helped solidify our back end this past year. Derek has a strong voice in the room and some impressive leadership qualities, and we will look to him to help our team continue to grow and improve this coming season."Forbort joined the Canucks last summer on a one-year, $1.5-million deal. He appeared in 54 games this past campaign, notching 11 points while averaging 17 minutes per contest.<div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div>His new contract doesn't include any trade protection and makes him eligible for unrestricted free agency next July. He contributed 19 goals in 81 games this season and has added seven tallies in the playoffs.He's the NHL's active leader with 231 career postseason games, notching 137 points in those contests. Perry is likely headed to the Hockey Hall of Fame once his career comes to an end. Along with 448 goals and 935 career points, Perry is a Triple Gold Club member and has an MVP and "Rocket" Richard Trophy on his resume.

"I don't think our game changes a whole heck of (a) lot," he said. "We're not a heavy match team, maybe that's part of it. We've got pretty good forward depth there, so we don't feel that when we get home, and you get home-ice advantage from the match that it's that big a deal."The Panthers raced to a 3-0 series lead in last year's matchup and ultimately won Game 7 to capture the Cup.
