Canucks GM: 'You would not believe' low trade offers for Boeser
Vancouver Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin claimed people would be shocked by how underwhelming the trade offers were for forward Brock Boeser ahead of Friday's deadline.
"If I told you what I was offered for Brock Boeser, I think I would have to run out of here because you would not believe me," Allvin said.
"The biggest reason I felt that we didn't do any moves here today was that there was not a whole lot of market return on our players, unfortunately," Allvin added.
Boeser, set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, has 18 goals and 38 points in 55 games this season. The 28-year-old has failed to match his career-best 2023-24 campaign when he notched 40 goals and 73 points in the regular season and seven goals and 12 points in 12 playoff contests.
Allvin admitted the team now has to accept the risk of letting Boeser walk in free agency after failing to find a trade.
"That's part of the business and the risk you have to take to be in it," Allvin said on Sportsnet's Canucks Central. "Obviously, this gives us a couple more months to continue to talk and see if we can find a fit that works for both of us."
With the deadline behind him, Boeser said he's glad he can focus on the rest of the season.
"Your head's a blender," Boeser said after the Canucks' 3-1 win against the Minnesota Wild on Friday.
"You hear so many things, you don't know what's true and what's not true. I really try to not talk to (my agent) unless something was really important, so just letting him deal with that and deal with the Canucks. It was a long week, and I'm just happy that it's over with."
