Flames' Andersson played through broken fibula for 12 games
Rasmus Andersson is as tough as they come.
The Calgary Flames defenseman acknowledged Saturday that he played his final 12 games of the season with a broken fibula.
Andersson told media, including Sportsnet, he suffered the injury March 25 against the Seattle Kraken. He played 11 additional games afterward as the Flames chased down a playoff spot, though they ultimately came up short. Andersson sat out the Flames' season finale after they had already been eliminated. It was the only game he missed all season.
Despite the injury, Andersson added that he plans to represent Sweden at the 2025 World Championship, which begins May 9 in Stockholm and Herning, Denmark.
Andersson recorded 11 goals and 20 assists in 81 games this campaign, averaging 23:59 per contest - second most on the team behind MacKenzie Weegar.
The 28-year-old is set to enter the final year of his contract before he can become an unrestricted free agent in 2026.
"I've loved every second here and whatever happens, happens," he said of his future with the team.
The Flames drafted Andersson in the second round in 2015. He's registered 231 points in 536 games across nine seasons.
