Lightning's Point out week-to-week, avoids worst-case scenario
Tampa Bay Lightning forward Brayden Point is out week-to-week but avoided the "worst-case scenario" with his injury, head coach Jon Cooper said Tuesday, according to team commentator Dave Randorf.
Point sustained an apparent knee injury after scoring a goal Monday against the Philadelphia Flyers. He threw off his gloves, grabbed at his right knee, and was helped off the ice.

Point was named to Canada's Olympic team. He was one of the initial six players named to the roster, and he featured on Canada's first line in the 4 Nations Face-Off championship game in February. The men's tournament begins Feb. 11.
The 29-year-old has 11 goals and 30 points in 37 appearances. Point's been hot of late after a slower start to the campaign. He has eight goals and 19 points in his last 15 contests.
Point has eclipsed 40 goals and 80 points in each of the past three seasons. He notched a career-high 51 goals and 95 points in 2022-23.
The Lightning are second in the Atlantic Division with a 28-13-3 record, and have won 10 straight games.
