Devils place Luke Hughes on LTIR
The New Jersey Devils placed defenseman Luke Hughes on long-term injured reserve, the team announced Wednesday.
LTIR requires players to miss at least 10 games. Hughes sat out Tuesday against the Edmonton Oilers, so he'll miss a minimum of nine more contests.
Hughes is still being evaluated to determine an exact recovery timeline, according to nj.com's Ryan Novozinsky. He appeared to injure his shoulder in Monday's game against the Calgary Flames.

Hughes notably missed the start of last season while recovering from an offseason shoulder injury.
The 22-year-old has tallied five goals and 21 assists in 49 contests this campaign. The Devils signed him to a seven-year, $63-million contract in October.
