Leafs' Stolarz returns vs. Golden Knights after missing 33 games

Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Anthony Stolarz will return from his upper-body injury Friday against the Vegas Golden Knights, head coach Craig Berube confirmed, according to The Athletic's Joshua Kloke.

Stolarz has missed 33 games since sustaining the injury Nov. 11 versus the Boston Bruins.

In 13 starts, Stolarz is 6-5-1 with an .884 save percentage. He led the NHL in save percentage the past two campaigns.

The 32-year-old was assigned to the AHL on a conditioning loan Tuesday but didn't appear in any games.

Toronto has relied on Joseph Woll and rookie Dennis Hildeby in Stolarz's absence. Woll has gone 11-5-4 with a .911 save percentage, while Hildeby went 5-6-4 in 19 appearances while making saves at a .910 clip.

The 24-year-old Hildeby doesn't require waivers to be sent down to the AHL's Toronto Marlies. Berube said he will defer to general manager Brad Treliving about whether Toronto will keep all three goalies on the NHL roster, according to The Leafs Nation's Arun Srinivasan.

Friday's game is the first time the Maple Leafs have had both Stolarz and Woll on the active roster at the same time this season.

Toronto is 24-17-9 and three points out of the second wild card in the Eastern Conference.
