Jordan Spieth will have a round of 25 putts or less

Spieth returned to his usual putter this week, and after a rough start to his Friday round, found the stroke that won him two major titles. The Texan said after his 2-under-par 68, that it "was the best putting round I've had in a long time." The defending champion also struck the ball better coming down the stretch in the second round, hitting 8-of-9 greens in regulation.

The winner will hit less than 50 percent of the fairways this week

Although 36-hole co-leader Kevin Kisner leads the field in fairways hit at the halfway point, others have posted low scores without having to find the fairway. Paul Casey fired a second-round 66, using just two drivers on the day, but was still only in the short grass 57 percent of the time. Webb Simpson is also a co-leader, but he's only found 42 percent of the fairways this week.

"It's just too difficult to hit them (fairways). But if you can put it in the spots where you're still hitting the green in regulation, par is probably your worst score," Spieth told pgatour.com on Friday.

A playoff will be needed Sunday evening

Simpson, Kisner, Danny Lee, and Scott Piercy are all tied for the lead at 6-under par, but 56 other players are within eight shots of the quartet. Colonial Country Club remains difficult for the field of players, and therefore won't allow anyone to pull away this weekend. Since 2006, the tournament has needed extra holes four times, while five champions won by a single shot.
