Morikawa states commitment to TOUR amid LIV Golf rumors
Collin Morikawa took to Twitter on Tuesday to shut down rumors about his possible departure to LIV Golf.
"To state for the record, once again, you all are absolutely wrong," Morikawa said. "I've said it since February at Riviera that I'm here to stay on the PGA TOUR, and nothing has changed."
The two-time major champion said in February that he was committed to the TOUR amid early rumors of the Saudi-backed league, according to Sports Illustrated's Bob Harig.
Rumors of Morikawa's potential departure have spread online despite no related reporting from any reputable media outlet, according to Golf Channel's Ryan Lavner.
Morikawa shared his thoughts on the LIV Golf-related rumors ahead of the U.S. Open last week.
"I can read all these things, but everyone tells their kids don't believe what's on the internet. That's what we're doing," he said, according to ASAP Sports. "That's exactly what we're doing right now."
Morikawa, 25, has five wins on the PGA TOUR since turning professional in 2019. He's currently ranked No. 4 on the Official World Golf Ranking and is the defending champion of The Open, which is set for July 14-17 at St. Andrews.
