8 United stars highlight Europa League Squad of the Season
A day after Manchester United topped Ajax 2-0 in the Europa League final at Friends Arena in Stockholm, eight Red Devils have been named to UEFA's 18-man Squad of the Season.
Wednesday's goal-scorers Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan both make the list, as does shot-stopper Sergio Romero, defenders Eric Bailly, Daley Blind and Antonio Valencia, and influential midfielder Ander Herrera, and Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
All but one of the 18 selections come from the four semi-final sides, with newly minted Monaco signing Youri Tielemans earning a nod for scoring three times in 11 appearances for Belgians Anderlecht.
Finalists Ajax are represented by Matthijs de Ligt, Amin Younes, and on-loan Chelsea striker Bertrand Traore, while the side the Eredivisie lot beat in the semi-finals, Lyon, features Jeremy Morel, Corentin Tolisso, and Alexandre Lacazette. The squad is rounded out by a trio of Celta Vigo standouts, with Sergio Alvarez, Gustavo Cabral, and Pablo Hernandez honoured for the Sky Blues' last-four run.
