<p>Phoenix Suns All-Star <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nba/players/37815" href="https://thescore.com/nba/players/37815">Devin Booker</a> was extremely critical of the officiating following Wednesday's 120-107 Game 2 defeat to the Oklahoma City Thunder.</p><p>"In my 11 years, I haven't called a ref out by name, but James (Williams) was terrible tonight, through and through," Booker told reporters, per <a href="https://x.com/CamCox12/status/2047180222244762106?s=20">Cameron Cox of 12 News Arizona</a>.</p><p>"It's bad for the sport, bad for the integrity of the sport. People are going to start viewing this as the WWE, you know, if they're not held responsible."</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Booker appeared agitated by two incidents during the game. </p><p>The five-time All-Star was called for an offensive foul at the 2:31 mark of the second quarter for an "unnatural shooting motion" that appeared to make contact with Thunder forward <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nba/players/25024" href="https://thescore.com/nba/players/25024">Alex Caruso</a>. Booker sought an explanation from referees when the Suns were called for a similar foul on <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nba/players/60411" href="https://thescore.com/nba/players/60411">Shai Gilgeous-Alexander</a> on the next play.</p><figure class="article-segment--embed"><blockquote class="twitter-tweet">

I'm surprised this is happening on national TV in playoff games."</p><p>Booker was then assessed a technical foul with 2:05 left in the third quarter when an attempt to save the ball from flying out of bounds struck Thunder center <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nba/players/102798" href="https://thescore.com/nba/players/102798">Jaylin Williams</a>. The officials didn't immediately call the foul, instead waiting to do so until after a crowd formed around referee JB DeRosa. "I heard Caruso tell him to call the tech and, you know, he ended up doing it."</p><p>Booker added, "It just feels disrespectful. I haven't won a championship in this league, but you know, I have been in it for 11 years now. So to get to this point, to be treated like that, for me to even be saying something out loud, it's bad."</p><p>Booker recorded 22 points, seven rebounds, and four assists on 7-of-14 shooting as the Suns fell behind 2-0 to the defending champion Thunder. The two-time All-NBA selection says this is the first time he's complained about the quality of officiating in the league.</p><p>"It's my first time in 11 years," Booker said. "But it's needed. Like I said, whatever I get fined for, everybody can pull the clips and see where the frustration comes from."</p><p>Booker's teammate <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nba/players/39256" href="https://thescore.com/nba/players/39256">Dillon Brooks</a> also took umbrage with the number of fouls called in favor of his Canadian international teammate Gilgeous-Alexander.</p><p>"(Gilgeous-Alexander is) a little frail, and that's what the refs are going to call," Brooks told reporters, according to <a href="https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/48567864/suns-booker-brooks-rip-refs-game-2-loss-thunder">ESPN's Tim MacMahon</a>. "I got to be smarter about it, but this is the playoffs. It's a man's game. ...</p><p>"This is physical basketball. I don't get why all the dropping and the falling and the flopping and the flailing and all this stuff is allowed when we get to the playoffs. Leave that for the (regular) season for the fans."</p><p>When asked about Brooks' remarks, Gilgeous-Alexander said, "I can't control what Dillon or anybody else on the other side is going to complain about."</p>

He also placed second in defensive rebounds (9.5) and fourth in overall rebounds (11.5).</p><p>The two-time All-Star anchored the league's third-best defense (111.3), a number that improved dramatically to a league-best 107.7 defensive rating with him on the court. Beyond the statistical returns, Wembanyama also displayed a penchant for switching to defend guards, using his 8-foot wingspan to deny perimeter opportunities.</p><p>The league also named Wembanyama as one of three finalists for the MVP award, joining last year's selection, Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and three-time winner Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets.</p><p>Wembanyama is the fourth Spurs player to win Defensive Player of the Year. He joins Alvin Robertson (1985-86), David Robinson (1991-92), and Kawhi Leonard, who won in back-to-back seasons in 2014-15 and 2015-16.</p><p>The Frenchman also becomes the fifth European-born player to earn the award, joining Marc Gasol, Joakim Noah, Rudy Gobert, and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Seven of the last 14 winners have been European.</p>

<p>Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr admitted he's unsure about his future with the organization in the wake of Friday's season-ending play-in defeat to the Phoenix Suns.</p><p>Kerr, who is in the final year of his deal with the Warriors, said he will discuss what's next with owner Joe Lacob and general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr.</p><p>"The plan is to take some time, I don't know, take a week or two and eventually sit down and talk with Joe and Mike," Kerr told reporters, according to <a href="https://x.com/anthonyVslater/status/2045368331100934552?s=20">ESPN's Anthony Slater</a>. </p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>"We've always a great partnership and collaboration, and just see where they are and I'll tell them where I am and we'll talk about what's next for the Warriors, what the plan is for this offseason, and we will come to a collaborative decision on what's next," Kerr added.</p><p>Kerr shared a moment with <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nba/players/148" href="https://thescore.com/nba/players/148">Steph Curry</a> and <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nba/players/2982" href="https://thescore.com/nba/players/2982">Draymond Green</a> in the final moments of the 111-96 loss in Phoenix. "There's a run that happens, and when a run ends, sometimes it's time for new blood and new ideas."</p><p>Kerr, 60, has led Golden State to four NBA titles and was named Coach of the Year in 2016. Kerr's last championship came in 2021-22, and the team has failed to progress beyond the conference semifinals since, missing the playoffs in two of the last three seasons.</p><p>"It may still go on, and it may not. I don't know, but at this point we all need to step away and reconvene," Kerr added when asked about his future with the organization.</p><p>Kerr made it clear that a return to coaching with the Warriors would only happen alongside Curry, saying the 12-time All-Star guard would have to be "part of the equation."</p><p>Curry told reporters after the game that he would "for sure" be interested in an extension this summer, according to <a href="https://x.com/anthonyVslater/status/2045377122697662691?s=20">Slater</a>. Curry, 38, has one year and $62.3 million left on his contract.</p><p>Green could hit free agency at the same time, if not earlier. The 36-year-old holds a $27.7-million player option for next season.</p><p>"I'm not retiring," Green told reporters, per <a href="https://x.com/anthonyVslater/status/2045374276879225143?s=20">Slater.</a> "Hopefully, I've done enough to still be here."</p>

<p>The NBA's 65-game eligibility requirement for end-of-season awards has become a divisive issue. </p><p>Critics argue the rule has failed to effectively reduce load-management absences. The National Basketball Players Association recently <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///news/3507166" href="https://thescore.com/news/3507166">pointed</a> to Cade Cunningham's award ineligibility after a breakout season as evidence of the policy's shortcomings. However, NBA commissioner Adam Silver <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///news/3507900" href="https://thescore.com/news/3507900">insists</a> the cutoff "is working."</p><p>To qualify for Most Valuable Player, Defensive Player of the Year, Most Improved Player of the Year, or All-NBA and All-Defensive teams, players must record at least 20 minutes in 65 games. It was not a good basketball game - in fact, it was probably one of the worst basketball games in NBA history.</p><p>The Utah Jazz's 147-101 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday in Salt Lake City was one for the record books, and for all the wrong reasons. Here's a look at eight absurd numbers from a truly dreadful affair:</p><p><strong>2:</strong> Jazz guards John Konchar and Bez Mbeng became the first teammates in NBA history to record triple-doubles off the bench in the same game. It was Konchar's second straight triple-double.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p><strong>3:</strong> Grizzlies guard Jahmai Mashack also notched a triple-double, making Friday's contest the first time in league history where three players recorded triple-doubles. But wait, it gets better.</p><p><strong>6:</strong> The Grizzlies used six players in the game: Dariq Whitehead, Toby Okani, Lucas Williamson, Adama Bal, and Maschack started, and Rayan Rupert came off the bench. That's three two-way players, and another trio on 10-day contracts.</p><p><strong>7:</strong> The Jazz rolled out a comparatively deeper lineup, with Konchar and Bez joining starters Blake Hinson, Cody Williams, Oscar Tshiebwe, Kennedy Chandler, and Ace Bailey.</p><p><strong>8:</strong> The 46-point margin of defeat was only the eighth-largest of the 2025-26 campaign, nine short of the 55-point loss the Jazz suffered against the Charlotte Hornets on Jan. 10. Congratulations?</p><p><strong>10:</strong> Mashack also recorded 10 turnovers, tying for the most in the league this season. Does that count as a quadruple-double? Mashack, who is 6-foot-4, was listed as a center on official lineups.</p><p><strong>21%:</strong> The Grizzlies shot 11-of-52 from deep for a 21% shooting percentage. Rupert was the biggest offender courtesy of a 1-for-11 mark, slightly bettering Williamson (2-of-13) and Whitehead (3-of-10). Yikes.</p><p><strong>Minus-46: </strong>Mashack's minus-46 is the worst plus-minus in a triple-double performance in NBA history, surpassing Jusuf Nurkic's minus-30, which he also recorded as a member of the Jazz on Jan. 24 vs. the Heat.</p>

<p>FC Cincinnati have started preliminary discussions with representatives for Brazilian star Neymar about a potential move to MLS, sources told <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7184287/2026/04/09/neymar-fc-cincinnati-mls-preliminary-talks-transfer/">The Athletic's Tom Bogert and Paul Tenorio</a>.</p><p>Talks surrounding the former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain attacker are at an early stage as the club determines Neymar's interest, Bogert and Tenorio added. Cincinnati is also having internal discussions about a potential move for the 34-year-old and if it makes sense for the club.</p><p>Cincinnati doesn't currently have a vacant Designated Player spot, with Kevin Denkey, Miles Robinson, and Evander claiming the three slots.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Neymar, who is currently playing in Brazil with his boyhood club, Santos, is under contract with the three-time Copa Libertadores winners through 2026.</p><p>The Chicago Fire had negotiations with Neymar when he departed Saudi side Al Hilal in 2025 before he inked a short-term deal with Santos. Neymar experienced a return to form and helped Santos avoid relegation to the second tier of Brazilian football. He then extended his stay in Brazil by another season with fresh terms.</p><p>Neymar has three goals and a pair of assists in four appearances this season as he tries to earn a spot in Carlo Ancelotti's World Cup squad. "Obviously I’m upset and sad not to have been selected," Neymar told <a href="https://www.espn.com.br/futebol/selecao-brasileira/artigo/_/id/16447185/neymar-resposta-sobre-ficar-fora-convocacao-selecao-brasileira-manda-recado-copa-do-mundo">ESPN Brazil</a> after he wasn't included for recent friendlies against France and Croatia.</p><p>Neymar is Brazil's all-time leading scorer with 79 goals, two more than Pele, and his 128 caps are second only to iconic full-back Cafu (142).</p>
