<p>A year ago, Victor Wembanyama, Alperen Sengun, Jalen Williams, Cade Cunningham, Evan Mobley, and Tyler Herro were selected for their first NBA All-Star Games, continuing a trend of midseason showcase debutants.</p><p>No fewer than four players made their All-Star debuts in each of the last 12 exhibition contests, including in 2020, when 10 players featured for the first time. Even with a reimagined format this year that will include 16 stars representing the United States and another eight competing for Team World, several potential newcomers have made a case to appear in Los Angeles.</p><p>As with previous years, there are more All-Star-caliber performers than there are available spots. Two squads will represent the United States, while a third will feature international players. The top two teams based on record will advance to the championship game.</p><p>Five of the international spots have now been claimed by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Canada), Nikola Jokic (Serbia), Luka Doncic (Slovenia), Wembanyama (France), and Antetokounmpo (Greece).</p><p>Head coaches will vote for the seven reserves from each conference. If the selection process doesn't pick 16 American and eight international players, commissioner Adam Silver will make additions and substitutions to fill out the rosters.</p><p>The 2026 NBA All-Star Game takes place Feb. 15 at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.</p>

He hasn't played in the last 14 games.</p><p>"It's a very unique situation," <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nba/players/148" href="https://thescore.com/nba/players/148">Steph Curry</a> told Slater. "Our job is to keep playing, keep winning. It'll resolve itself one way or the other."</p><p>Golden State's experienced players have publicly vouched for Kuminga amid his protracted impasse with the organization. That group includes <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nba/players/2809" href="https://thescore.com/nba/players/2809">Jimmy Butler</a>, who's advocated for the fifth-year forward on numerous occasions.</p><p>"We love JK in this locker room," Butler said Thursday. "That's not going to change. If that happens to not be in here, we still rock with JK. That's for everybody. I wish him the best here. I wish him the best wherever."</p><p>Asked if he wanted the Warriors to deal Kuminga, Butler responded, "It ain't got nothing to do with me. I want JK to be happy. At the end of the day, that's what I want. Whatever brings him his joy and his happiness, that's what I want."</p><p>Warriors coach Steve Kerr was more tight-lipped about Kuminga's future and was seen speaking with him ahead of the victory over the Knicks. Kerr called it a "difficult situation," adding that he would keep the details of his discussion with Kuminga private.</p><p>The Sacramento Kings and Dallas Mavericks reportedly have the most interest in acquiring Kuminga. The Los Angeles Lakers apparently also have some interest in the former seventh overall pick ahead of the deadline Feb. 5.</p>

I am invested in this team," Antetokounmpo added. "I want to turn this team around. I want to play good basketball. I want to be healthy. I want to help my teammates."</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Antetokounmpo also emphasized his long-term commitment to the Bucks, saying, "My plan is to be here for the rest of my career. If they don't want me …" When asked about the leverage he holds, the two-time MVP responded, "I'm not the one in charge. "At the end of the day, I don't work for my agent. My agent works for me."</p><p>Antetokounmpo is in the second year of a three-year, $175-million contract that includes a $62.8-million player option for 2027-28.</p><p>Bucks head coach Doc Rivers also dismissed the rumors Wednesday.</p><p>"If you're around the team every day, and you saw those reports, you would laugh," Rivers told Amick. "He's given no indication (that he wants out). That doesn't mean that he doesn't change his mind, or whatever."</p><p>Rivers added: "But Giannis loves being in Milwaukee. He loves playing for this team. If something happens someday, where he changes his mind, I’d actually be surprised. But that can happen."</p><p>The veteran coach admitted that the ongoing speculation has taken a toll, noting that, "Giannis, two or three times now, has said, 'Guys, I'm here. I love it.'"</p><p>The 16-21 Bucks sit 11th in the Eastern Conference, one game back of the Chicago Bulls for the final play-in spot. He now looks like a steal for a Grizzlies franchise desperate for some new life following a series of injuries and Ja Morant's early-season issues.</p><p>Coward hit the ground running and is now a mainstay in the Grizzlies' starting five. The 22-year-old became the first rookie in franchise history to make at least six 3-pointers without a miss in a stellar 27-point display against the Indiana Pacers on Oct. 25. He's second among all first-year players in rebounds and fifth in scoring. It'll be difficult for Queen to remove the stink of the decision to trade the draft rights to Asa Newell and a future first-round draft pick to Atlanta, though it's hardly his fault the Pelicans valued him so highly. While offseason wrist surgery didn't help Queen's case, he returned earlier than anticipated.</p><p>An old-school, slick-passing center in the mold of Zach Randolph, Queen has displayed an intriguing blend of strength and finesse while earning a starting role for New Orleans. He leads all rookies in rebounds and blocks and has displayed some passing chops and advanced footwork in the post. He's averaging 15.3 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.4 blocks in his last 12 outings. The latter two have had mercurial campaigns due to injury, and Edgecombe has helped fill the scoring void, propelling the Philadelphia 76ers into a top-six spot in the East. The Baylor product is first among rookies in minutes (35.8) and steals (1.4) and third in scoring through 30 outings.</p><p>The attention the Maxey-Embiid two-man game attracts has created opportunities for Edgecombe, though the 19-year-old deserves praise for becoming a bigger perimeter threat. "Coming out of college, I was told he was a bad shooter. He's been a great 3-point shooter since he got here," Embiid said after Edgecombe went 4-of-9 from deep in Saturday's road win over the New York Knicks. A year removed from finishing with the top record in the East, the Cavs have now fallen to eighth in the conference.</p>
