Center Jenna Staiti transfers from Maryland to Georgia
ATHENS, Ga. (AP) Jenna Staiti, a 6-foot-6 center, is transferring to Georgia following one season at Maryland.
Staiti, from Cumming, Georgia, was the state's Gatorade Player of the Year and Miss Georgia Basketball in 2016. She will sit out the 2017-18 season as a transfer and will be a sophomore for the 2018-19 season.
Georgia coach Joni Taylor says Staiti is an elite player who ''uses her size to affect the game on both ends of the floor.''
Staiti averaged 26.2 points and 13.7 rebounds as a senior at West Forsyth High School. She averaged 3.0 points and 2.0 rebounds and blocked 14 shots as a backup on Maryland's Big Ten championship team.
