Iowa announced Wednesday it will retire Caitlin Clark's jersey Feb. 2 in a nationally televised matchup against USC.

Clark's the third player in program history to receive the honor. The Indiana Fever star led the Hawkeyes to a pair of national championship game appearances in four seasons. Iowa hadn't advanced past the Final Four prior to Clark's arrival.

"I'm forever proud to be a Hawkeye and Iowa holds a special place in my heart that is bigger than just basketball," Clark said in a statement. "It means the world to me to receive this honor and to celebrate it with my family, friends and alumni. It will be a great feeling to look up in the rafters and see my jersey alongside those that I've admired for so long."

Clark quickly rose to stardom in Iowa City, becoming a two-time National Player of the Year and breaking Pete Maravich's long-standing mark as the all-time leading scorer in Division I history.

Clark averaged 28.4 points, 8.2 assists, 7.1 boards, and 1.5 steals across 139 appearances. She led the NCAA in points and assists on three occasions.

The Fever selected Clark first overall earlier this year following her decorated career with the Hawkeyes.
