Tom Brady joins ownership group of WNBA's Aces
Retired NFL quarterback Tom Brady acquired an ownership interest in the Las Vegas Aces, owner Mark Davis announced Thursday.
"I have always been a huge fan of women's sports, and I admire the work that the Aces' players, staff, and the WNBA continue to do to grow the sport and empower future generations of athletes," Brady said in a statement.
Brady's purchase will require final WNBA approval.
The legendary quarterback sat courtside for his first Aces game in May 2022.
Davis, who owns the NFL's Las Vegas Raiders, catapulted the Aces to success after purchasing the club in January 2021. The Aces have a 50-18 record under his ownership and won their first WNBA title in 2022.
"Since I purchased the Aces, our goal has been to win on and off the court," Davis said. "Tom Brady is a win not only for the Aces and the WNBA but for women's professional sports as a whole."
Brady retired earlier this year following a 23-season career that spanned seven Super Bowl championships, three NFL MVPs, and 251 regular-season wins with the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
