New York Liberty assistant Sonia Raman agreed to a multi-year deal to become the next head coach of the Seattle Storm, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.

Raman takes over for Noelle Quinn, who wasn't retained following her fifth season at the helm.

Raman interviewed for the Liberty's head coaching vacancy before ultimately choosing the Storm, according to The Athletic's Ben Pickman.

She spent the previous campaign on Sandy Brondello's staff. The Massachusetts native was also an assistant with the Memphis Grizzlies from 2020-24.

Raman's only head coaching experience was a 12-year stint at Division III MIT. She is the program's all-time wins leader and a two-time NEWMAC Coach of the Year winner.

Seattle went 23-21 this past season, finishing seventh in the league standings. The Storm were eliminated in Game 3 of the opening round by the eventual champion Las Vegas Aces.
