The final 25-man roster is expected to be announced by early January. Minnesota Wild general manager Bill Guerin is the GM of the Olympic team, with New York Rangers bench boss Mike Sullivan serving as head coach.

Reigning Calder Trophy winner Lane Hutson is among the most notable omissions. Players not invited to the orientation camp can still make the Olympic roster, though.

The men's hockey tournament runs from Feb. 12-22 in Milan. It'll be the first Winter Games including NHLers since 2014.

The Americans haven't won a men's Olympic hockey gold medal since 1980.
