Canelo Álvarez finalized a deal to fight Edgar Berlanga on Sept. 14 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The bout will go head-to-head with UFC 306 as the promotion makes its debut at Sphere in Vegas.

With his mandatory title defense against the IBF's No. 1 contender William Scull overdue, Álvarez is being stripped of his IBF super middleweight title ahead of the bout, sources told ESPN's Mike Coppinger.

The 34-year-old, who successfully defended his belts four times after becoming the first undisputed champion at 168 pounds in 2021, will still defend his WBA, WBC, and WBO titles against Berlanaga.

Álvarez (61-2-2, 39 KOs) last fought in May at T-Mobile Arena when he defeated fellow Mexican Jaime Munguia via unanimous decision.

Berlanga (22-0-0, 17 KOs) stopped Padraig McCrory with a sixth-round technical knockout in February. The 27-year-old hasn't fought since the stoppage win.
