The 31-year-old entered Friday with 19 home runs this season, and he's hit 20-plus homers in four different campaigns throughout his 10-year career.
Perez will be a first-time derby participant. He's joining a field that already features Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Angels, Trey Mancini of the Baltimore Orioles, Trevor Story of the hosting Rockies, and defending champion Pete Alonso of the New York Mets.
The veteran catcher is also expected to start for the American League in the All-Star Game after finishing first at his position in fan voting.
