Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora isn't pleased with his team's effort in the field after sloppy defense allowed the Tampa Bay Rays to score twice in the sixth inning on a Little League home run.

"I don't like it, man. I've seen that play too many times over the last two years," Cora said postgame following a 6-2 loss Sunday, according to Chris Cotillo of MassLive. "You've got to throw the ball to the right base, got to back up. You cannot become a spectator. You've got places to go in every play in baseball."

He added: "At the end, it's on me. I'm the manager of this club, and we've been sloppy. It's not about pointing fingers. The roster is the roster and we have to play better baseball. I'm the manager of this team and defensively, we're not good. We're not."

Cora acknowledged he isn't sure when the club's defensive issues can be ironed out.

"We're going to coach the players until we get it right," the 47-year-old said. "When? I don't know. If it's tomorrow, it's 59 games too late. But we've just got to keep going."

The Red Sox are now tied with the Washington Nationals for the second-most errors (39) in the majors after committing two more Sunday.
