Freeland asks fans to 'keep believing' in struggling Rockies
Colorado Rockies left-hander Kyle Freeland hopes fans stick with the team despite a miserable start to the 2025 season.
The Rockies were outscored 21-3 in a humiliating home doubleheader sweep at the hands of the Detroit Tigers on Thursday. The two losses dropped Colorado's league-worst record to 6-31.
"Keep believing in us," Freeland said, according to MLB.com's Thomas Harding. "Keep ridin'."
Freeland started the first game of the doubleheader, allowing 11 hits and nine runs (five earned) across three innings to fall to 0-5 this season. His ERA dropped to 6.41 in eight starts this year.
"What they're doing is right," Freeland said. "What we're doing is wrong. We're not winning baseball games. It's as clear as day. We're playing a bad brand of baseball, all around - pitching, fielding, hitting. It's bad."
Colorado's .162 winning percentage would put the team on pace to finish the season with 26 wins. Last year's Chicago White Sox set the modern-era record for futility with a 41-121 record.
The Rockies are 4-14 at Coors Field in 2025. They'll welcome the San Diego Padres to town for a weekend series beginning Friday.
