Talk about a first impression.

Barely 24 hours after being traded to the San Diego Padres, reigning NL batting champion Luis Arraez entered his new team's record books with a dominant day at the plate against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Arraez, who led off as the DH, became the first Padres player to record a four-hit game in his debut with the team.

Arraez led off the contest with a double, then rapped out singles in each of his next three plate appearances to make it a 4-for-4 start to his Padres career.

Arraez finished his day 4-for-6 with two runs scored and an RBI in a 13-1 Padres victory. The 27-year-old's performance upped his slash line to .315/.359/.392 through 34 games.

"Those guys got a lot of energy," Arraez said postgame about his new Padres teammates, according to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune. "So, I just want to be here to bring my energy, too. And what a game. What a day for me, too."

The Padres acquired Arraez - one of only two modern-era players to have definitively won a batting title in both leagues - from the Miami Marlins for a package of four players.

While Arraez was impressing his new teammates, his old friends on the Marlins were having a Saturday to forget in Oakland. Miami scratched out just six hits in a 20-4 drubbing at the hands of the surprising Athletics.
