Phillies, Sánchez agree to 4-year extension worth reported $22.5M

The Philadelphia Phillies and left-hander Cristopher Sánchez agreed to a four-year extension, the club announced Saturday.

Sánchez's deal is worth $22.5 million in guaranteed money, sources told Matt Gelb of The Athletic.

The pact also reportedly contains a pair of club options in 2029 and '30 valued at $14 million and $15 million, respectively, which cover what would've been his first two free-agent years. Sánchez can raise the value of both options if he finishes top-10 in NL Cy Young voting, Gelb adds.

Sánchez wasn't arbitration-eligible until 2026 prior to his new pact.

The 27-year-old owns a 2.91 ERA with 66 strikeouts over 77 1/3 innings (14 starts) for the NL East-leading Phillies. He's only allowed one homer and 24 walks this season.
