Los Angeles Angels designated hitter Jorge Soler will serve a four-game ban for his role in starting a benches-clearing melee with the Atlanta Braves last week, the Angels said Wednesday, according to Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com.

Soler will miss the last two games of Los Angeles' current series against the New York Yankees and the first two contests of the weekend series versus the San Diego Padres.

The 34-year-old was originally suspended for seven games but appealed MLB's decision.

Braves pitcher Reynaldo López had his ban lowered to five contests last Wednesday after also initially receiving a seven-game suspension. The right-hander didn't miss a start as a result of an off day.

Soler and López exchanged punches on April 7 after the slugger charged the mound following the hurler's high-and-tight pitch.
