Max Muncy believes the upcoming World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees is what baseball fans have been waiting for.
"You're talking about two of the biggest franchises," the third baseman said after his Dodgers beat the New York Mets in Game 6 of the NLCS on Sunday to advance to the Fall Classic, according to Alden González of ESPN.
"The biggest stars in the sport. You've got Shohei (Ohtani), Freddie (Freeman), (and) Mookie (Betts). On the other side, you've got Aaron Judge, Giancarlo (Stanton), Juan Soto, (and), Gerrit Cole - the game's biggest stars on the actual biggest stage.
"How do you not be excited about this as a fan? It's gonna be a battle for both teams. We're gonna have to do things the right way. We can't make any mistakes. But as a fan, how could you not be excited for this?"
The Dodgers and Yankees will meet for the 12th time in the World Series. The last time the two storied franchises played each other for the Commissioner's Trophy was in 1981, with L.A. coming out victorious. However, New York has won eight of the 11 matchups.
The best-of-seven series between the No. 1 playoff seeds begins Friday at Dodger Stadium.
The Dodgers won two out of three games versus the Yankees in the Bronx in June during their only regular-season series in 2024.
