Jacob Misiorowski came so close to making history at Target Field.

The Milwaukee Brewers rookie followed up his eye-popping, hitless MLB debut by flirting with perfection against the Minnesota Twins on Friday. Misiorowski carried his perfect-game bid into the seventh, but issued a walk to Byron Buxton before allowing a two-run homer to Matt Wallner on his final pitch of the night.

Wallner's blast ended Misiorowski's streak of consecutive hitless innings to start his career at 11. He's the first starting pitcher since at least 1900 to start his career with at least 10 hitless frames, according to Brewers Media Relations. It's also a Brewers franchise record, for both starters and relievers.

Misiorowski missed the overall record for consecutive hitless innings to start a career, including relievers, by two-thirds of an inning, according to Sarah Langs of MLB.com.

Misiorowski, ranked as the majors' No. 20 prospect by Baseball America, finished his night with six strikeouts, one walk, and the one hit allowed on 86 pitches (60 strikes). Twelve of his 86 pitches were thrown at 101 mph or higher, the sixth-most by a starter since pitch tracking began in 2008, per Langs.

Early in the game, the 23-year-old put his full array of talents on display by striking out Willi Castro on a filthy 96-mph slider that turned the Twins hitter's legs into jelly.

Misiorowski now owns a 1.64 ERA and 0.55 WHIP with 11 strikeouts and five walks over his first two big-league starts. He's the first pitcher in baseball's modern era (since 1901) to have collected more wins (two) than hits allowed (one) over his first two big-league starts, according to OptaStats.

The Brewers won the game 17-6.
