The Atlanta Braves stayed in-house to find their next skipper.

The Braves announced Monday that they promoted longtime bench coach Walt Weiss to manager, succeeding the retiring Brian Snitker.

Weiss spent the last eight seasons on Atlanta's staff as Snitker's bench coach and right-hand man, helping guide the Braves to seven playoff berths, six division titles, and the 2021 World Series title.

The 61-year-old previously managed the Colorado Rockies from 2013-16, posting a 283-365 record over that span. He also played 14 campaigns in the majors, including three years in Atlanta from 1998-2000.

Weiss inherits a Braves squad that took a step back in 2025 and placed fourth in the NL East. Atlanta finished with a losing record for the first time since 2017. However, a slew of injuries affected the Braves' core players this past campaign, and the club was without free-agent addition Jurickson Profar for half the season after he received a suspension for testing positive for a banned substance.

The Braves are expected to keep most of their core intact in 2026, with former NL MVP Ronald Acuña Jr., first baseman Matt Olson, and star pitchers Chris Sale and Spencer Strider expected to return.
