Guardians promote 2024 No. 1 pick Bazzana

The Cleveland Guardians called up top prospect Travis Bazzana on Tuesday, the team announced.

Bazzana is expected to take over as the starting second baseman, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan.

Cleveland selected Bazzana with the No. 1 pick in the 2024 draft.

The 23-year-old is the 16th-ranked prospect in all of baseball, per MLB Pipeline.

Bazzana recorded two homers, 10 RBIs, eight stolen bases, and a .933 OPS over 24 Triple-A games this season. He also represented Australia in the 2026 World Baseball Classic.

The Guardians optioned infielder Juan Brito to Triple-A in a corresponding move.
