Cavs' streak reaches 11 games after topping Thunder in showdown
The Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 129-122 Wednesday night in a back-and-forth showdown between the NBA's two hottest teams.
Jarrett Allen tallied 25 points, 11 boards, and six assists to help the Cavs seal their second 11-game winning streak this season.
Frontcourt partner Evan Mobley finished just shy of a triple-double as well, posting 21 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists.
Seven different Cavs players tallied double digits in scoring, including all five starters.
Cleveland drilled 41.7% of its 3-point attempts and shot 52.2% from the field against the NBA's top-ranked defense.
The Cavs improved to 32-4, which is tied for the fifth-best 36-game start in NBA history.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander added 31 points, five boards, four assists, and three steals for Oklahoma City in a losing cause.
It's the Thunder's first league defeat since Dec. 1 when they fell 119-116 to the Houston Rockets. Their NBA Cup finals loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Dec. 17 didn't count toward the standings.
The highly anticipated matchup featured eight ties and 30 lead changes. No team led by more than nine points.
The Cavs and Thunder will square off again Jan. 16 in Oklahoma City.
