Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young left Wednesday's game against the Brooklyn Nets due to a right knee sprain, the team announced.

Young suffered the injury in the opening quarter when Hawks teammate Mouhamed Gueye inadvertently fell on his leg. Young then spoke to head coach Quin Snyder on the sideline before leaving the game for good.

Young scored six points in seven minutes before departing, adding a rebound and an assist apiece.

Snyder said postgame that Young appears to have avoided any damage to his ACL.

"I think the most important thing is that it is not his ACL," the Hawks coach said, courtesy of Brad Rowland of Locked On Hawks. "He's going to get an MRI tonight or tomorrow and make a determination from there. So, not sure how long or what respect, but something that he's going to hopefully be back from whenever possible.

"He didn't want to come out of the game. He's such a competitor. He takes a lot of pride in being available. There's been a lot of times in the time that we've been together where he's banged up and he goes out and plays, and you saw that tonight, too. He tried to stay in there."

In four games entering Wednesday, the 27-year-old guard averaged 20.8 points, 9.5 assists, 2.3 rebounds, and one steal. However, he's struggled to find his 3-point shot, averaging 19.2% on 6.5 attempts per contest. He did not attempt a three during his brief stint Wednesday.
