Akoy Agau commits to SMU as grad transfer

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

Former Georgetown forward Akoy Agau has committed to play at SMU next season as a grad transfer.

"I chose SMU because I felt like it was the best situation for me to succeed both athletically and academically," Agau told Mike Sautter of the Omaha World-Herald. "I will have an opportunity to come in and earn minutes there while getting a chance to be productive."

The 6-foot-8, 235-pound forward averaged 4.5 points and 4.3 rebounds last season with a Hoyas squad that finished 14-18, but is now joining a 30-5 Mustangs team that made the NCAA tournament.

"SMU has been one of the winningest programs in the country the last few years," Agau said. "Winning is very important to me."

Agau will be immediately eligible to play next season with SMU.
