Creighton hands top-ranked Kansas 1st loss of season
Junior guard Pop Isaacs scored 27 points and shot 6-of-9 from three to help Creighton upset No. 1 Kansas 76-63 on Wednesday.
It's the Jayhawks' first defeat of the season after winning their first seven contests.
It's the second straight season in which the Bluejays have knocked off a No. 1 side. Their 85-66 win over UConn in February was the program's first-ever victory over a top-ranked team and snapped a 14-game winning streak for Dan Hurley's side.
Ryan Kalkbrenner and Steven Ashworth added 17 points apiece, with Kalkbrenner also contributing 10 rebounds and Ashworth recording eight boards and six assists.
Kansas was led by Dajuan Harris Jr., who scored 15 points with five assists, two rebounds, and two steals but was held to just 3-of-9 shooting from deep. AJ Storr and Zeke Mayo were the only other Jayhawks to reach double digits, scoring 12 points each. The loss was the Jayhawks' first against an unranked nonconference opponent in the regular season in three years.
