Raiders' McDaniels has 'no anxiety' about Garoppolo's availability

Las Vegas Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels says he isn't overly concerned about the availability of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

Garoppolo underwent foot surgery in March and isn't expected to be on a practice field until closer to training camp. The 31-year-old hasn't passed a physical due to a foot injury that ended his 2022 season when he was a member of the San Francisco 49ers.

"I don't worry about the things I can't control. ... I have very good information that tells me that we're going to be fine," McDaniels said Thursday, according to ESPN's Paul Gutierrez.

He added: "I have no anxiety. You guys may have anxiety. I have no anxiety."

McDaniels said there's no timeline for when Garoppolo will return to practice. The veteran quarterback has spent time at the team facility as he continues to work his way back.

Las Vegas agreed to terms with the veteran passer on a three-year, $72.75-million contract that includes a waiver that would allow the club to part with Garoppolo if he isn't cleared to play due to the ailment.

The Raiders are expected to turn to quarterbacks Brian Hoyer, Aidan O'Connell, and Chase Garbers while Garoppolo remains on the mend. Las Vegas moved on from longtime signal-caller Derek Carr in February.
