Jerry lauds Dak's big-game abilities after Eagles win

Dak Prescott entered the season with some questioning his prospects of being the Dallas Cowboys' long-term starter after leading the NFL in interceptions in 2022.

Three months later, Prescott is the favorite to win MVP after knocking off the Philadelphia Eagles in prime time to propel Dallas to the top of the NFC East.

"For anyone that might have a question about it, for him to come in here and play like that against Philadelphia, he should have his due," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said, according to ESPN's Todd Archer. "That ought to shut that door of questioning his ability to play in a playoff-type game."

However, Prescott - who completed 24 of 39 passes for two touchdowns and had one fumble returned for a score by the Eagles - didn't believe his performance was among his best this season.

"Solid enough to get the win," he said. "I've told you before, I'm my biggest critic. Obviously, not my best game. ... Did enough to win, but I always want to do better."

The 30-year-old's efficiency has reached a new level in 2023. His completion percentage of 69.3 is a career high, while his adjusted yards per attempt of 8.4 would tie for the second-best mark of his NFL tenure.

Prescott has also thrown just six interceptions to help earn his best-ever passer rating of 107.5. He tossed 15 interceptions in just 12 appearances last year.

During Dallas' five-game win streak that has it back in contention for the conference's No. 1 seed, Prescott has produced 16 total scores against just two turnovers.

But Jones says Prescott doesn't need to win MVP to prove how vital he is to the Cowboys and their chances of making a deep postseason run.

"He's got that kind of appreciation from I think everybody in this organization," Jones said.
