The Las Vegas Raiders are preparing to start quarterback Aidan O'Connell on Friday against the Kansas City Chiefs, sources told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
O'Connell has been on injured reserve since sustaining a broken thumb on Oct. 20 but returned to practice Monday and took first-team reps, Pelissero reports.
The 26-year-old has appeared in four games (two starts) this season, completing 63.4% of his passes for 455 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions.
Las Vegas will turn to O'Connell after Gardner Minshew sustained a season-ending broken collarbone Sunday in a loss to the Denver Broncos. The Raiders also have Desmond Ridder on the active roster.
