Texans' Dell hospitalized with 'significant' knee injury
Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell was carted off after injuring his knee while making an incredible 30-yard touchdown catch during Saturday's 27-19 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
A covered cart was on the field for Dell, who left the matchup on a stretcher. He left Arrowhead Stadium in an ambulance and was taken to the University of Kansas Medical Center's trauma center, the NBC broadcast announced.
Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans announced that Dell will remain in the hospital Saturday.
"Tank has a significant knee injury," Ryans said postgame, according to SportsTalk 790. "He'll be staying here in Kansas City overnight getting further evaluation."
Dell sustained a dislocated knee cap, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
He went down after colliding with one of his teammates on a scoring play that cut the Texans' deficit to 17-16 at Arrowhead Stadium. Houston missed the extra-point attempt.
Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud was visibly emotional after Dell went down.
Dell put on a show as a rookie last year, but his first NFL season ended prematurely after he fractured his fibula in December 2023. The 25-year-old was once again a key contributor to the Texans' offense in 2024, catching 45 passes for 569 yards and two touchdowns before Saturday's game.
Dell was Houston's leading wideout versus Kansas City before leaving the contest, as he racked up 98 yards and one TD on six receptions.
The Texans also lost star receiver Stefon Diggs after he sustained a torn ACL in October.
