New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields exited Sunday's 30-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills in the fourth quarter with a concussion, the team announced.

Fields suffered the injury after hitting his head on the turf while getting tackled.

The 26-year-old left for the locker room with a neurotrauma consultant and didn't return. Tyrod Taylor, who signed with the Jets this offseason, finished the game and could be in line to start next week.

Fields struggled before the injury, finishing the contest with 27 passing yards on three completions. His poor performance Sunday comes after he played well in his Jets debut, racking up 260 total yards and three scores in the team's Week 1 loss versus the Pittsburgh Steelers.

New York signed Fields to a two-year, $40-million deal this offseason. He was drafted in the first round in 2021 and spent last year with the Pittsburgh Steelers, going 4-2 in six starts before being replaced by Russell Wilson.

New York will look to get into the win column against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 3 after falling to 0-2.
