The Philadelphia Eagles traded a 2026 third-round pick to the Miami Dolphins for pass-rusher Jaelan Phillips, the team announced.

The Dolphins are paying part of Phillips' salary to make the trade happen, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The Eagles had two 2026 third-round selections, with one coming from the New York Jets, but will be sending their own pick to the Dolphins, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Phillips will reunite with defensive coordinator Vic Fangio in Philadelphia. The two briefly spent time together in 2023 when Fangio was the defensive coordinator in Miami.

The Eagles needed help in the pass rush department after recording only 16 sacks through eight games this season. Veteran defensive lineman Brandon Graham recently came out of retirement to assist Philadelphia in that area.

Philadelphia has been the most active team in the trade market ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline. In addition to Phillips, the franchise acquired cornerbacks Jaire Alexander and Michael Carter II.

Phillips, who's in the final year of his rookie contract, has three sacks through nine games this season. He's put up a career total of 26 sacks, with his highest single-year tally coming as a rookie in 2021 when he notched 8.5 sacks.

The 2-7 Dolphins were expected to be sellers ahead of the trade deadline. The team parted ways with general manager Chris Grier on Friday.
