Kraken place Dunn on LTIR with mid-body injury
The Seattle Kraken placed defenseman Vince Dunn on long-term injured reserve with a mid-body injury Monday night.
The move is retroactive to Oct. 17, meaning the Kraken won't have their No. 1 blue-liner back in the lineup until Nov. 12 against the Columbus Blue Jackets at the earliest. Players on LTIR must miss at least 10 games and 24 days of the campaign.
Seattle called up rearguard Cale Fleury from the AHL in a corresponding move.
Dunn logged only 13:10 minutes of ice time during Thursday's 6-4 victory against the Philadelphia Flyers. He took an awkward fall in the opening frame, and though he took some shifts in the second period, he missed the entirety of the third.
Kraken head coach Dan Bylsma told reporters postgame that Dunn was "banged up," but that his absence in the final 20 minutes was more precautionary, per Fox 13 Seattle's Curtis Crabtree.
Dunn also missed the Kraken's 2-0 loss to the Dallas Stars on Oct. 13 with an upper-body ailment but returned to action the next game. He's logged one goal, three points, and 10 blocks in four outings in the early goings of the season while averaging 18:49 minutes per contest.
The 27-year-old was limited to 59 games last campaign because of injuries. He missed 12 games in March with an upper-body issue, and the Kraken went 3-7-2 in his absence, dealing a severe blow to their dwindling playoff hopes.
Seattle owns a 4-2-0 record so far this season and will take on the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. ET.
